Lara Alami is a talented and gifted Mezzo-soprano, earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Arizona State University under the instruction of coloratura soprano Anne Elgar Kopta. While in Arizona, Lara was a regularly featured soloist in the Arizona State Concert Choir. Among the works she was featured in are Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb, as well as Vivaldi’s Gloria. She sang regularly with a small jazz combo in the Phoenix area, performing at restaurants weekly. Lara has also performed in numerous venues in the Detroit area. She has held in the past the position of alto soloist and section leader in the Birmingham First Chamber Choir, where she has been featured soloist on Bach’s Cantata 214 and Magnificat.
She has held the alto soloist and section leader in the First Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir, with whom she has sung Handel’s Messiah, Honniger’s King David, and numerous other works. Lara now performs in recitals with various artists, and local bands. She enjoys performing the works of composers spanning from Handel and Bach to Mozart to Faure’, and Copland. Lara lives with her husband Faris and thier sons Noah and Gabriel in Troy.
